Sands and Construction Stone
Sand and Construction stone is sold by the cubic yard and is also available in 50 pound bags. One cubic yard weighs approximately 2500-2800 pounds and will cover approximately 100 square feet 2″ deep.
Sand
Sand uses:
- Concrete or mortar mix: follow directions on mortar or concrete bag for mixing
- Leveling: spread and tamp to desired thickness
- Soil Additive: 1 part to every 4-5 parts of soil
- Play areas and athletic surfaces

White Beach Sand
White in color, very fine grain
Yellow Mason Sand
Yellow in color; most frequently used sand. Fine grain
Brown Masonry Sand
Brown in color; fine grain

Brown in color, course with small pebbles

Very small stone or very coarse sand

Construction Stone
Limestone 1B
Limestone 1B is about the size of an eraser on pencil. Limestone 1B can be used for concrete, walkways, driveways, and fill for holes.
Limestone 2B
½″ to 1-½″ in size clean. Limestone 2B is excellent for drainage (French drains). It can also be used for back filling behind retaining walls, concrete additive, walks, driveways, or for filling holes.
Limestone 2A
Limestone 2A is a variety of sizes from sand to 2″. It is used as a compaction stone. It is excellent for driveways (packs tight and solid), walks, filling holes, concrete additive, as a base under retaining walls and patios.
Limestone #3
Limestone #3 is 3-4″ in size. It is mainly used for lining places such as the end of drainage pipes and ditches to reduce erosion. It can also be used for retention ponds, rapid drainage areas, backfill or filling holes.
